How this service works
We are a referral service. We connect you with an independent local provider; we are not the provider.
Moving Townsville is an independent referral service connecting local customers with trade and inspection providers. When you call or send a form, your enquiry goes to an independent removalist who services Townsville. That business quotes and carries out the work, is responsible for the work, holds its own licences and insurance, and is responsible for its advice. Please check their licence, insurance and terms before you engage them.
We may receive a fee from the provider for connecting enquiries. It does not change what you pay.
We are a referral service
Moving Townsville is a website that helps people moving within, to or from Townsville get in touch with an independent local removalist. We are not a removalist. We do not own trucks, employ movers, quote moves or carry them out.
When you send the quote form, we pass your details to one independent removalist who services Townsville. They contact you directly, quote and, if you go ahead, carry out the move under their own terms and insurance. Your agreement is with them, not with us.
How calls and requests are routed
Moves within Townsville go to a local removalist. Long distance and interstate moves, including Townsville to Brisbane, Cairns and Mackay, go to a removalist who runs those routes. Local moves and long distance or interstate moves may go to different independent removalists. Each request goes to one removalist only. Bond cleaning requests go to a cleaner where one is available. When our phone line opens, callers will choose 1 for a local move or 2 for a long distance or interstate move. Until then, please use the quote form.
How we choose removalists
Before we pass enquiries to a removalist, we ask them to show us:
- An ABN and business name that match.
- Truck sizes and driver licence classes that suit their fleet. In Queensland, trucks over 4.5 t GVM need a truck licence: LR up to 8 t, MR over 8 t with two axles, HR over 8 t with more than two axles (Queensland Government).
- A current public liability insurance certificate, and what transit insurance they offer or can arrange.
- Written, itemised quotes that state whether the price is hourly, fixed or by cubic metre, and a clear deposit policy without large upfront deposits.
- Whether they are members of the Australian Furniture Removers Association (AFRA). Membership is voluntary; we treat it as a plus, not a requirement.
These checks reduce risk but do not replace your own. Queensland has no removalist-specific licence that we are aware of, so read the quote and terms carefully before you book.
Call recording notice
When our phone line opens, calls will be recorded for quality and training, and you will hear a notice before the call connects. Call details and recordings will be handled as described in our privacy policy, which will be updated before the line goes live.
What we do not do
- We do not guarantee any removalist's work, price, timing or insurance.
- We do not publish reviews, ratings or claims we cannot verify.
- We do not provide Defence relocation services or act for any employer.
- We do not sell your details or send the same request to more than one removalist.
If something goes wrong, raise it with the removalist first. If it is not resolved, you can contact the Queensland Office of Fair Trading at qld.gov.au/fairtrading or on 13 QGOV (13 74 68) (Queensland Government).
Your privacy
We only collect what is needed to pass on your request: your name, phone, optional email and the details of your move. Read the full privacy policy.
